Ann Coulter used to be one of the shinning voices of the Conservative movement. She could be counted on to verbally joust and destroy liberal opponents.
Suddenly she isn’t doing this.
Suddenly she is saying we should give in to Obama.
What has happened to Ann Coulter?
I must confess, I have been a fan of Ann Coulter for a long time. I admire her writing and her writing has been something of an inspiration to me.
Yet I have to wonder what is going on.
Last year she came out for Mitt Romney in the primaries against a slew of other good and real conservatives. She has spoken admiringly of that gelatinous blob and Al Gore certified source of hot air and global warming, Chris Christie.
Now, she has come out and said we should just give into Obama on taxes.
Ann Coulter was on Hannity last night and she said that Republicans should agree to raise taxes on the rich because if we don’t and Obama pushes us off the fiscal cliff, the Republicans would be blamed.
She reminded Sean Hannity that Republicans lost the election. So, in her mind, Obama is going to beat us on this issue so it is just better to surrender.
Ann, that is so John Boehner of you!
Let’s set a few records straight. The Republicans did not lose the race. Mitt Romney lost the race. The Republican establishment, which gave us their hand picked candidate, lost the race.
Conservatives did not lose. We did not have a horse in the race. The election was an extreme liberal against a not as liberal Republican. Coulter is right. Obama and the drive-by media will blame Republicans no matter what. They will blame Republicans for cracks in the sidewalk and a cloudy day.
Coulter is right that our messaging is worse than terrible.
But that is not a reason to surrender. It is a reason for us to improve our messaging. It is also a reason for us to change leaders and get rid of the RINOs who have done nothing but lead us to defeat after defeat.
A friend of mine posted a blog today in which he talked about the famous Revolutionary War hero, Admiral John Paul Jones. Jones fought the enemy. When his ship was on fire and sinking, a British Captain demanded his surrender.
Jones’ words became legend.
“I have not yet begun to fight.”
For America, for freedom and liberty we fight. And we conservatives have not yet begun to fight.
Perhaps someone should remind Ann Coulter of the words of a great leader and hero of freedom: Sir Winston Churchill.
“We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”
We shall fight on against Obama and the rest of his liberal cronies in the name of freedom. Ann Coulter may surrender if she wishes. We shall never surrender in our fight against socialism lest the lamp of liberty be extinguished in this God-blessed nation and we be forced to live the words of Ronald Reagan who warned of a day where we would tell our children and our grandchildren what it was like to grow up in a free America.
We shall never surrender.
